About Manitowoc Mobile Unit in Manitowoc, WI

If you are struggling with an opioid addiction, you may feel alone and overwhelmed. You may be wondering how you can find the help you need to begin living a healthier, happier life. If you have an addiction to an opioid like heroin, prescription painkillers, or fentanyl, you can heal. By receiving professional treatment, you can develop the tools you need to achieve lasting recovery.

Manitowoc Mobile Unit, located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is a premier provider of outpatient medication-assisted treatment (MAT). We serve adults age 18 and older in Manitowoc and the surrounding communities who are struggling with opioid use disorder. We believe that through comprehensive treatment, it’s possible for those who have opioid addictions to heal. At our mobile unit, MAT combines individual and group therapy with the use of prescription medications like methadone. MAT is a comprehensive service designed to help people form a foundation for ongoing recovery from opioid addiction.

Medical and behavioral health professionals have been using methadone and other medications like it to treat opioid addiction since the 1960s after studies showed that these medications could reduce opioid cravings and alleviate opioid withdrawal symptoms. Over the years, further research has led to improvements in how methadone clinics and other rehab facilities provide opioid addiction treatment. MAT programs like ours comprehensively address the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of opioid use disorder to help patients achieve optimal results. When patients receive a combination of counseling services and FDA-approved medications, they can achieve lasting recovery.

The medications that are available for patients will vary across different clinics in our Comprehensive Treatment Center network but may include methadone, buprenorphine, Suboxone®, Sublocade, and Vivitrol. In addition to these medications, our opioid addiction treatment program includes counseling services so that patients can develop new skills and gain confidence as they work toward recovery. Counseling services at Manitowoc Mobile Unit include individual and group therapies along with telehealth options.

At Manitowoc Mobile Unit, our care team is made up of doctors, dispensing nurses, and counselors. Each of our professionals specializes in opioid addiction treatment and can provide the type of support that helps our patients see lasting results. Our goal is to provide compassionate care that is tailored to the specific needs of each person we treat.

When someone comes to our clinic for help, we want them to feel as comfortable as possible. We treat each of our patients with the utmost respect and empathy because we realize how much courage it can take to make the decision to receive opioid addiction treatment. While participating in medication-assisted treatment may seem overwhelming, it can also lead to long-term success. When our patients receive MAT services, they can avoid relapse and have happier, healthier lives.

Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Addiction

Medication-assisted treatment is a comprehensive and evidence-based method of opioid addiction treatment that incorporates the use of medication and counseling. Medications used in MAT can help alleviate withdrawal symptoms and reduce opioid cravings, making it easier for people to focus on healing. Counseling is also a significant part of MAT because it can help patients address the emotional and psychological aspects of opioid addiction. In counseling sessions, patients can also learn important coping strategies and other skills that can promote their progress.

At Manitowoc Mobile Unit, patients can receive effective, personalized addiction treatment. Our outpatient treatment program is designed to allow patients to maintain their jobs or continue to attend school. The length of time someone may spend in our MAT program is highly individual and depends on the person’s progress and needs. Throughout someone’s time in MAT at our mobile unit, we monitor their progress so that we can adjust their care if needed.

Patients who participate in medication-assisted treatment can receive evidence-based care that is safe and effective. They can also benefit in the following ways:

  • Improved employment performance, from fewer work absences to more effective production
  • Lowered risk for getting or transmitting an infectious disease
  • Less risk for arrest or other legal trouble
  • Increased treatment retention
  • Better social functioning and improved interpersonal relationships

If you participate in our MAT program, you’ll receive a medication and dose that is tailored to your needs. Our trained staff will monitor your progress and adjust the type and dose of medication if your needs change during the time you spend in our opioid addiction treatment program.

While each medication we prescribe varies slightly in the way it works, they all help ease uncomfortable opioid withdrawal symptoms that can interfere with someone’s commitment to recovery. Regardless of which medication our staff determines is best for your needs, it is crucial that you take the medication under the close supervision of a qualified professional.

Whether you’re participating in MAT at a methadone clinic, a Suboxone® clinic, or another rehab treatment center, it’s important to share thorough details about your medical history and opioid use with your care team to ensure that you receive the medication and dosage that’s most appropriate for your needs.

Value of Substance Abuse Therapy

The medications that are used in MAT are crucial for alleviating opioid withdrawal symptoms and helping people avoid relapse. Counseling is also an important part of medication-assisted treatment at our mobile unit. Through counseling, patients can learn more about opioid addiction and develop effective coping skills that can help them achieve lasting recovery. Counseling sessions also give patients the chance to address the emotional and psychological aspects of opioid addiction, which can give them insight into factors that may have impacted their opioid abuse.

During individual therapy sessions, patients can speak one-on-one with a mental health professional in a private setting. In group counseling, patients can meet and listen to one another and form a meaningful support network. This is often an invaluable part of our program. Experienced staff members lead group counseling sessions, where patients have the opportunity to discuss topics like relapse prevention skills, coping strategies, and interpersonal skills.

Methadone gave me a second chance at life, a life that heroin was taking away. I am forever grateful. Thank you!
