Our CTC offers a welcoming environment and a team of experienced professionals who can support you throughout your time in our MAT program.

The team at York CTC serves individuals who are from Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, and York counties in Pennsylvania, as well as people who are from Baltimore, Carroll, and Harford counties in Maryland, as our center is located less than 20 miles from the Maryland border.

We are committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered opioid addiction care for our community. At York CTC, we can help individuals reclaim their lives, restore hope, and build a brighter future.

Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Addiction

Organizations such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recognize MAT as a highly effective treatment option for opioid addiction. MAT combines the use of FDA-approved medications with counseling to address both the physical and emotional aspects of addiction.

Prescription medications offered as part of MAT vary based on location but may include methadone, buprenorphine, and Suboxone®. Our team carefully administers medications and closely monitors their effects, making dosage adjustments as needed. These medications can alleviate withdrawal symptoms and opioid cravings, allowing patients to fully engage in the therapeutic element of MAT.

Therapy is a vital part of MAT and the recovery process. At York CTC, individual and group therapy sessions provide a supportive space where patients can form connections with peers and explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors on a deeper level.

Research consistently shows that patients who receive MAT can experience the following positive outcomes:

  • Increased treatment retention
  • Improved mental clarity
  • Reduced rates of overdose
  • Lower likelihood of relapse
  • Improved relationships
  • Greater job stability
  • Higher overall quality of life

Through MAT, people can start to rebuild their lives and become more engaged both in their homes and in their communities.

The Role of Therapy in Recovery

At York Comprehensive Treatment Center, patients participate in individual and group counseling sessions, where they can address the underlying causes of addiction and identify harmful thought patterns.

In individual therapy, patients meet confidentially with a professional, receiving mental health support and guidance. Patients can reflect on their past, discuss current struggles, and set goals for the future. Our counselors encourage open and honest conversations about obstacles that may be holding patients back from the lives they want to live. Patients can learn healthy coping mechanisms and emotion regulation skills, which can help them improve their relationships with themselves and others.

In therapy, patients may also learn how to:

  • Manage stress in healthier ways
  • Improve communication skills and resolve conflicts more effectively
  • Set and keep healthy boundaries in relationships
  • Practice self-compassion and positive self-talk
  • Identify early warning signs of relapse and take proactive steps to seek help

In individual therapy, we can empower patients to improve their overall mental health and work toward lasting recovery.

Group therapy sessions provide an environment where patients can interact with others who may have had similar experiences and support each other through difficult moments. In these sessions, our qualified counselors encourage patients to have open discussions about addiction, the effects of trauma, and the recovery process. We hope that by sharing their own experiences and listening to others, our patients realize that they are not alone on their journey.

In group therapy, patients can also develop essential life skills, including:

  • Self-awareness: Recognizing strengths and areas for growth to reach one’s full potential
  • Adaptability: Learning to navigate change and uncertainty without resorting to harmful behaviors
  • Resilience: Overcoming setbacks with perseverance and optimism
  • Building healthy relationships: Engaging with others in meaningful ways while respecting personal boundaries
  • Emotion regulation: Managing emotions in a way that supports overall well-being

Through individual and group therapy, patients can strengthen these skills, regain confidence, and build a reliable network of support.

The Benefits of an Outpatient MAT Program

We understand that not everyone can put their daily responsibilities on hold for treatment, which is why our outpatient MAT program is designed to fit seamlessly into your schedule. Our team will work with you to find counseling times that fit into your routine, which allows you to focus on recovery while continuing to fulfill your personal and professional commitments. This approach to treatment ensures that you can prioritize your health while remaining present for your family, your job, and other important aspects of your life.

By participating in our MAT program, you can regain a sense of stability, making it easier to manage daily tasks and rebuild connections with your loved ones.

Outpatient care strikes a balance between structured treatment and personal independence, providing crucial support without requiring a full-time commitment. By accommodating the demands of a busy life, an outpatient MAT program can provide a practical and effective path to long-term recovery.

What To Expect at York CTC

We know that making the decision to receive treatment at a CTC or methadone clinic can be overwhelming. At York Comprehensive Treatment Center, we will prioritize your safety and well-being from the moment you arrive. Our admissions process begins with a comprehensive assessment that may include questions about your medical history, your current symptoms, and any previous treatment you may have received. The results of this assessment help us understand your health history and unique needs. You will also have bloodwork and a tuberculosis (TB) test done. Our team will then develop your personalized treatment plan, which includes a prescription for medication and a schedule for individual and group therapy sessions.

Once you begin medication-assisted treatment, we will conduct regular health screenings to track your progress and overall well-being. We will make adjustments to your medication and dosage as needed, allowing for optimal relief from withdrawal symptoms. When your time in our care comes to an end, we will provide you with a detailed discharge plan and referrals for local community resources.

Methadone gave me a second chance at life, a life that heroin was taking away. I am forever grateful. Thank you!
