About Kelso Comprehensive Treatment Center in Kelso, WA

Located in Kelso, Washington, Kelso Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is an opioid addiction treatment clinic that provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adolescents ages 13-17 and adults age 18 and older.

The team at our Kelso methadone clinic, which includes licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, substance use disorder professionals, substance use disorder professional trainees, a medical director, and a physician assistant, is dedicated to helping each patient succeed in their recovery. We offer various medications that are clinically proven to help treat opioid addiction, including methadone, buprenorphine, and buprenorphine/naloxone. We are also able to provide extended-release injectable medications like Vivitrol (naltrexone) and Brixadi (extended-release buprenorphine) when clinically appropriate. The specific type of medication each patient receives at our treatment center will vary based on their needs and medical history.

Therapies Used at Our Kelso Methadone Clinic

At Kelso Comprehensive Treatment Center in Kelso, Washington, we know that medications like methadone are only one part of fully treating opioid addiction. Patients need to have the ability to process the social, emotional, and psychological effects that have led to and resulted from the use of opioids.

Unlike other methadone clinics, we offer individual and group therapies as part of the treatment process. These counseling sessions give patients an opportunity to explore the underlying reasons that could have contributed to the development of an addiction while also gaining an understanding of what things in their lives may be preventing them from achieving recovery.

Individual therapy offers time for patients to meet one-on-one with a substance use disorder professional. The frequency of individual counseling sessions is based on each patient’s clinical needs, treatment goals, and level of engagement in care. The schedules may be adjusted over time in response to a person’s progress, their stability, and any emerging needs. This ensures that services remain patient-centered and supportive of the individual’s recovery process.

Group therapy sessions are offered on a regular basis and are scheduled according to patient need and clinical appropriateness. Group counseling may include both process-oriented groups that provide peer support and opportunities for shared discussion, as well as education and skill-building groups that are focused on coping strategies, emotion regulation, medication education, and recovery skills.

The topics covered in group counseling are designed to support recovery, provide education, and promote overall wellness, and they may vary based on patient needs and program focus. Group sessions commonly cover things such as understanding addiction, the role of medication in treatment, developing coping and relapse prevention skills, managing stress and emotions, addressing triggers and cravings, improving communication and relationships, and supporting motivation and long-term recovery planning. Educational groups include health-focused topics such as sexually transmitted infections, communicable diseases, prevention and harm reduction strategies, and testing and treatment options. Together, these groups provide psychoeducation, peer support, and opportunities to gain practical skills that promote informed decision-making and sustained recovery.

The team members at our Kelso clinic strive to provide patients with the best possible therapeutic experience so that they can achieve lasting recovery. Through these therapy sessions, patients learn how to make positive changes in their lives and how to develop coping skills that will help prevent future relapse.

Youth MAT Services

We provide medication-assisted treatment for adolescents ages 13-17. Admission is based on a clinical assessment conducted by a qualified medical provider to ensure that the services we provide are appropriate and supportive of their recovery.

Treatment is voluntary, and youth services are offered only when they are willing to participate in the treatment process. Parent or guardian consent is obtained when required by state law. In certain situations when legally permitted, youths may access services without parental consent through additional clinical and safety steps.

Youth services are scheduled by appointment, and we are able to accommodate various time frames based on individual need.

All intake documentation is completed in accordance with federal, state, accreditation, and internal policy standards, with an emphasis on same?day documentation and early engagement in ongoing treatment and care coordination.

Frequently Asked Questions

What insurance do you accept?

Kelso CTC accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and most forms of commercial insurance. We also have a self-pay rate. For specific questions regarding insurance coverage, please contact our team at your convenience.

What is your process for random drug testing?

Random drug testing is conducted as part of ongoing treatment to support safety, accountability, and recovery progress. Testing occurs at unannounced intervals based on clinical need and is performed in a respectful, dignity?centered, and trauma?informed manner. Specimens are collected using procedures designed to ensure accuracy and prevent tampering, with results reviewed by clinical staff and incorporated into individualized treatment planning as appropriate.

Do you allow take-home doses of medication?

Yes. Take?home doses are available for patients and are determined on an individualized, patient?centered basis. Take?home privileges are assessed based on each patient’s overall stability, engagement in treatment, consistent attendance, safe behavior, absence of diversion concerns, and ability to securely store medication. Requests are reviewed by the multidisciplinary treatment team and approved by a medical provider, with ongoing evaluations to ensure continued safety and therapeutic benefit. The type, number, and frequency of take?home doses are tailored to each patient’s clinical needs, progress in treatment, and overall recovery goals.

What is the typical length of stay in this level of care?

There is no fixed or predetermined length of stay for this level of care. Treatment duration is individualized and based on each patient’s clinical needs, response to treatment, and recovery goals. Many patients remain in care for months to several years, as ongoing participation in medication-assisted treatment and supportive services is often associated with improved stability and long?term recovery outcomes. Discharge planning is collaborative and occurs when the patient demonstrates readiness and appropriate supports are in place.

Does your clinic offer any additional services?

Yes. In addition to MAT services, we partner with DHR Recovery Navigators, who are on-site one day a week to assist Medicaid?eligible patients with access to essential resources, such as housing support, clothing, food, laundry services, phones, bedding, and other basic needs. These services are designed to strengthen stability, reduce barriers to treatment engagement, and support long?term recovery.

If you or someone in your life is struggling with an addiction to opioids, contact our team so that we can provide more information about what you can expect from MAT and answer any questions you may have.
